Unique to the Palladium Series is a carbon-infused, thermoset composite dual-horn configuration. It consists of a proprietary tweeter design, combining a chambered phase plug and Tractrix® Horn for extended high-frequency response; a second 90º by 60º acoustically dampened Tractrix Horn is coupled to the midrange driver, resulting in remarkably precise and detailed performances.

Low distortion, high sensitivity, wide bandwidth and neutral tonality have been, in this ground-breaking design, pushed beyond the standards for any previous Klipsch driver.

An adjustable brushed aluminum floating base supports the cabinet at just four points, rather than the entire area of the base. This raises the cabinet from floor level but maintains absolute stability.

Next to its unique shape, the most striking visual statement is the exotic zebra-grain Linia veneer that’s available in three different finishes: natural, merlot and espresso. The horizontal linear grain and absence of visible fasteners allows the P-39F to elegantly complement your furniture and décor.

The network is a two board construction located adjacent to the speaker's base plate which also allows for the tri-wire input connectors to be conveniently located at floor level. This minimizes the length of speaker wire and produces a clean finished look.

For superior bass performance, the P-39F’s three low-frequency drivers employ 9-inch hybrid cone woofers, powered by a unique three-part neodymium magnet structure with dual stabilizing rings that reduce nonlinear flux.

Many speakers of similar caliber rely on off-the-shelf drivers; every P-39F driver has been engineered and built for their specific application. Because these speakers are sold as precisely matched left and right pairs, all of the drive units and networks are hand sorted and matched for ideal performance. Years of research, development and testing resulted in a remarkable driver design that exceeds even our own high performance standards.

Built around a ¾” titanium dome, the tweeter makes use of two very large high temperature N35H neodymium magnets in an unconventional configuration.

The titanium dome and surround are formed as one common unit. The chamber behind the tweeter dome is resistively damped via a filled tube to reduce reflection of the back wave and thereby the distortion that would otherwise be produced. The phase plug that puts the dome into a compression mode also has a unique chamber within it that extends the upper frequency limit of the driver.

In addition to the Klipschorn and Heresy, the Klipsch Rebel, Shorthorn, Cornwall, La Scala, and Belle Klipsch are among the most well known loudspeakers developed by Paul W. Klipsch. Many of these models, which are regarded as some of the world's finest, are still manufactured and sold around the world today.  The Klipschorn is the only speaker in the world that has been in continuous production, relatively unchanged, for over 60 years.

Paul W. Klipsch (PWK) is one of America's most celebrated audio pioneers because he revolutionized the way the world listens to recorded music. Unsatisfied with the sound quality of phonographs and early speaker systems, Mr. Klipsch used scientific principles to develop a corner horn speaker that sounded more lifelike than its predecessors.

After receiving his Masters Degree, Mr. Klipsch worked as a geophysicist for a Texas oil company.

The Klipschorn®, which today is still manufactured and sold worldwide, proved that it was possible to reproduce the sound of a live orchestra inside a home. The resulting acoustics career of Mr. Klipsch spanned from 1946, when he founded one of the first U.S. loudspeaker companies, to 2000 when the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society published one of his papers.

Mr. Klipsch received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from New Mexico State University in 1926, a Masters of Science in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1934, and a Doctor of Laws from New Mexico State University (NMSU) in 1981. The NMSU engineering department was renamed the Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1995, in honor of Paul W. Klipsch.

Mr. Klipsch's interest in engineering was influenced by his father, an instructor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind. Although he was only 12 when his father passed on, Mr. Klipsch's interest in science and engineering endured. He built his first speaker using a mailing tube and a pair of earphones at the age of 15, which was a year before the first public radio broadcast.

As the story goes, Paul and Rudy Bozak (of Bozak, Inc) unexpectedly showed up at the same dealer at the same time. As they were taking light-hearted jabs at one another—being “friendly competitors" and all—the dealer went out and bought two short-handled axes, so he could take photos of them “burying the hatchet."

It was during his service at the Southwest Proving Grounds located in Hope, Ark. that Mr. Klipsch refined his corner horn speaker design. Visitors to his officer's quarters were amazed by the lifelike reproduction and encouraged Mr. Klipsch to start his own manufacturing business. He received a patent on his loudspeaker design in 1945, registered the name Klipsch & Associates in 1946, and began making each loudspeaker with his own two hands until he hired his first employee in 1948.

After receiving his Masters Degree, Mr. Klipsch worked as a geophysicist for a Texas oil company. He later served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Paul W. Klipsch was known for having many eccentricities, including his famous “Bullshit” motto. He started using the slogan after reading a competitor’s loudspeaker ad that made claims of supposed “breakthroughs.” After that, he wore a “Bullshit” button behind his lapel and showed it to anyone he felt was making an outlandish claim.

On February 4, 2008, Indianapolis employees, with countless cameras in tow, eagerly congregated in front of Klipsch headquarters to witness the Klipsch® Chopper unveiling.
